Manufacturing Team Leader

To lead the operational production team in delivering a high-quality product, on time, to budget, and in a safe manner. This will be achieved through the day-to-day effective leadership of a multi-skilled production team who will be driven towards superior results, exceeding KPI targets, and to strive for continual improvement. This in turn, will enable the business to fulfil its organisational objectives and strategic plans.

Team: Operations

Key responsibilities:

Main responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • To prioritise the health and safety of all staff on the production floor.
  • To ensure quality standards are maintained and exceeded across all manufacturing processes.
  • To achieve production KPIs i.e., Production OTIF (on time in full), hour by hour and yield targets.
  • To lead and motivate their team to achieve H&S, QA and productivity targets.
  • Plan out daily tasks based on MRP demand and WIP.
  • Effective communication of pertinent and relevant information to allow staff to carry out their duties effectively.
  • Identify and manage training requirements to increase workforce flexibility.
  • Continually review the team and individual performance to identify areas for improvement and staff development.
  • Develop team working across the factory applying continuous improvement principles.
  • Write, review, and approve process documentation where required.
  • Participate in health and safety initiatives and projects.
  • Conduct disciplinary meetings, investigations, and performance reviews.

 

The successful candidate’s profile:

Experience:

Essential:

  • 10+ years manufacturing experience.
  • 5+ years previous experience in a management role.
  • Experience of health and safety systems.
  • Excellent people manager that can lead and motivate staff.
  • Experienced in conducting disciplinaries and implementing performance improvement plans (PIP).
  • Knowledge and understanding of ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems (QMS),
  • Proficiency in IT systems, including Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.
  • Experience of working with ERP systems.

 

Qualifications:

Desirable:

  • HNC/D in a manufacturing/engineering, or management discipline.
  • Health and Safety (IOSH, NEBOSH)

  • Flexibility: Ability to change ideas or perceptions based on new information or contrary evidence. Ability to effectively respond to changing circumstances, and adjusts tasks/priorities, as required.
  • Continuous improvement: Ability to seek ways to improve processes, products or services. Ability to engage in continuous learning opportunities that develop self and expands organisational intellectual capital.
