The company commenced trading as D Grant in 1881 and became a Limited Company in 1939 trading under the name Donald Grant Limited until 1971 when the name was changed to Grant Westfield Limited to more properly reflect the size of the Company and the location of its plant at Westfield in Edinburgh.

Until 1962 the Company was exclusively involved in Shopfitting for the Retail, Banking and Insurance sectors. Since that time concentration on manufactured products for building interiors has become the prime activity of the Company establishing a reputation for high quality products in timber, laminate and specialist materials.

The Company still undertakes specialist contracting work for major public buildings and interiors thus retaining its shopfitting traditions but in addition to this we now have an extensively equipped factory capable of volume production linked to a skilled workforce able to make the single specialist pieces so often required. In recent years the Company has extended its facilities to include off-site element manufacture.
