Education Minister visits Grant Westfield...

Fresh from opening the ‘inspirational’ Armadale Academy last month where Options cubicles, Clipclad® and vanity units were installed, Education Minister, Fiona Hyslop visited Grant Westfield this week to meet and greet our apprentices.

With recent survey results showing that only 17% of small businesses in Scotland have trained someone as part of the Modern Apprenticeships programme in the last three years, this is an area of focus for the government.

Ms. Hyslop was welcomed to the premises, where she was presented with an overview of the company with a particular focus on the education sector, before receiving a tour of the factory and meeting all of the apprentices. Nigel Patch, Managing Director commented;

“At Grant Westfield we are very proud of the fact that we manufacture quality products using skills that are not only machine led and modern but also traditional and learnt from tradesmen through time worn practice.

It is only by combining modern technologies and historical skills that industry can remain competitive. Training through apprenticeships has long been a tradition at Grant Westfield and it is good to see that it is returning to the popularity that it deserves.”
